Aleit was always passionate about giving back wherever he could. He even launched #AleitGivesBack via social media just before he passed away in 2022. As a co-founder of The Aleit Academy, he was equally dedicated to helping students recognise the potential within themselves, and to help them fulfill their career dreams. In honour of this generosity and his commitment to setting the benchmark for the highest levels of excellence in the events & hospitality industry, The Aleit Academy introduced The Aleit Swanepoel Memorial Scholarship Programme.

The Aleit Academy is a tertiary education institution offering superior-quality events & hospitality education with an emphasis on experiential learning and industry immersion. It is the only institution in the industry that’s able to practically prepare graduates to pursue any career in this sector. The Academy’s full-time Diploma in Event Coordination is regarded as South Africa’s pre-eminent qualification for anyone interested in pursuing a career in this industry.

The Aleit Swanepoel Memorial Scholarship launched in October 2022, and offers a partial academic scholarship for the Diploma qualification to deserving students who may not have the financial means to afford the full tuition or payment options available from the Academy. 

The scholarship is awarded to someone who is clearly passionate about the industry, has a strong track record of excelling academically, and who shows strong leadership and growth potential.

Through classroom learning, practical industry experience and one-on-one mentorship from The Academy’s faculty, the successful applicant will be nurtured to grow into their fullest potential. They will also be surrounded by classmates who share an ethos of wanting to develop their unique capabilities, and who eventually want to inspire others to: create more meaning and value in the world; to grow in a way that encourages collaboration and a culture of community; and to show that a positive mindset and strong work ethic can make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. 

The Academy prides itself on the success rates of the graduates it has produced to date. Armed with entrepreneurial skills, creative thinking and superb problem-solving skills, they have left the Academy being well-rounded project managers who are practically equipped to hit the ground running in any career they choose – whether it’s to work for other industry professionals locally or abroad, or to start their own businesses.
